In most African organisations, Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is still foreign and some still feel there is no gender bias in the business world.
Data suggests that while the total funding raised by African startups in H1 2024 amounted to $780 million, the vast majority of this capital was directed towards male-led ventures, leaving a disproportionately small share for startups with female founders.
The report also highlights the challenges facing women in the startup world, such as unconscious bias, lack of role models, and limited access to funding.
